One good deed we can do on Facebook :)))

* oh , facebook doesn't ;)*

Well well, whose birthday is it today? because I'm gonna wish you a happy birthday to you, have a blast! :)

So, today I log in fb, my eyes would automatically glance at the top right bar to see who have gotten 1 year older and within seconds..'click' on to that persons profile. For what? Wish them! (^^)

Just wanna share, I think one of the things that I like about fb is that, they inform our friends birthdays. Good isn't it? I mean first, this can strengthen our friendship ties between our friends and secondly, that birthday girl or boy would be so happy receiving wishes. Yea..I see you nodding..hehe :)

Wishing on fb is relatively easy. It just take a few seconds of your time and tada..^^ Also, I wanna add on, I agree with what my mum said, by wishing someone on fb, we are actually doing an 'Ibadah, *charity*

The Prophet also said: "Every act of goodness is charity." - Sahih Muslim, Hadith 496
* I copied paste this hadeeth from a website, islamawareness.net*

We doesn't have to pay a single cent to wish them. So, why must we close one eye about it. We wish them, they happy, we get points for our good deed. :)

Sometimes, i just wonder why we don't wanna wish some of our friends. Is it because we don't know them, or don't like them or 'nah, no difference. Someone else will be wishing for them.' So, just wash away all our hatred towards others and shove off our ignorance ok, :)

My birthday just past 2 weeks ago and I m soo happy to get many wishes. Thanks my family, friends, cousins, relatives, be it on fb, sms and in person! Love ya! :)

But, If it is someone from opposite gender and we are not familiar with him or her, maybe, that is an exception.=p Because they are Non-mahrams to us. So, yea..nothing to lose. lol

But, if they are the same gender as us, then what solid reason for us to not wish them? 0.o

So, maybe later on, you can log on to fb and wish ur friends whom you think you are lazy or refuse to wish to. hehe

Remember, we wish them, they happy, we get points for our good deed. :) Ok, go! haha!

Treat others as you would want others to treat you..Seriously, if we do not wanna wish them, then why are we friends on fb? hehehe.

Actually, what urge me to post about this is because, I have 3 friends whose birthday falls today and they all sounds happy when replying our wishes! See! They feel happy yaw! heh

Ok, go.....who knows, they are waiting for your wishhh...woooooo.. Hada, please.. -.-. haha!

So, basically, this post is about caring to others. yea, I know u know. :))

p/s: Have you ever not wishing someone.. and what makes you to do so?

Good post Sis :) Well, my reason for not wishing is because I believe birthdays should not be celebrated as it is a tradition introduced by pagans.. which is something to be avoided..Allahu alam.. sorry to be a mood killer sis :/ But if you were top in class, I'd have been the first :) Nonetheless, a year older insha Allah a year wiser too! Aameen!

Asha! :) Hmm, I respect your point sis, but, surely, you do wish your family on their birthday rite..hehe :)

I dont quite get it when u said it shud not be celebrated. But, for me, the thing that makes it haram is when we put on candles as these shows that we imitate the act of the kaafiruns rite, blow, n make a wish like those in dramas..heh

Hmm, if it is just buying a cake without using any candles or going out to celebrate it..it can be done rite..:)

Maybe, you mind sharing, :)

(Oh man, I typed out a whole bunch of words and it didn't get through :/)

I wrote that I don't exactly wish them 'Happy Birthday' but I'll try to give them reminders on the day. One reason why I'm not comfortable with birthdays is due to its pagan origins as I had mentioned. If you were do some research (just try Wiki for a start) and you'll discover how Birthdays came about. Even some Christians forbid celebrating birthdays altogether as a result of this Pagan origin.

If you are wondering, Prophet sallallahu alayhi salam like to fast on Mondays because he was born on the day. To quote:

"If a person fasts on Mondays, as the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) did, hoping for forgiveness on that day, out of gratitude for the blessings that Allah bestowed upon His slaves on the day – the greatest of which blessings is the birth of His Prophet and His sending him – and hoping to be among the people who are forgiven on that day, then this is something good and is in accordance with what is proven of the Sunnah of the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him). "

However, this does not mean that Prophet sallallahu alayhi salam actually celebrated his birthday as:

"The Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) fasted on Mondays, and no other day, but from year to the next, his birthday may come on that day or any other day of the week."

I raised this point because some might say, look, even the Prophet sallallahu alayhi salam celebrated his birthday by fasting on Monday. But it's not true that he fasted on Mondays as a way of celebration but for the rewards.

I don't believe I presented this to you properly..Like I said, I am uncomfortable celebrating birthdays due to its Pagan origins. Just like how we would avoid celebrations by Christians (e.g. Christmas), wouldn't we do the same if we knew how the tradition of Birthdays started in the first place? Actually, even scholars are against us celebrating birthdays as this is an imitation of the kaafirs.

I wrote about this some time back but I already closed my old blog. You can just do your read up on wiki :) And Allah knows this affair best.

p/s/ don't you think we should instead be sad that we have a year lesser to live? :(

wow, thanks Asha for sharing, much appreciated :))

I get ur point about giving reminders instead of just saying 'happy birthday' . This sounds more islamic right and thanks for the info about nabi Muhammad s.a.w fasting on his birthday. :)

So, maybe next time it is more appropriate to include a du'a rather than just a plain wish of 'happy birthday' rite. n we should not follow the kaafirs when they use the candles. that will make it haram.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mQnMzgjijE0

This is a video from an Ustaz from Kelantan who said, we can celebrate but in Islamic way like, include du'a to that person, solawat, or solat hajat. But, the thing that makes it haram is by using the candles like how the kaafirs do. (Hope his Kelantan accent doesn;t sounds 'pekat' to you. hehe )

Sis, I still respect your choice, :) i just wanna share this video to you,

n yes Asha, I second you about not being too happy on our birthday cos as what you said, a yr older means we are nearing our death. Allah, may Allah bless our life and fill it with barakah, right Asha. Ameen :)

Muhammad Ahmed Zahbi has narrated by the reference of Abn Aljauzi without telling the source of Rivaiya that Holy Prophet (S.A.W.) said: “Whoever massaged with olive oil the Satan will not near him”.
